It is just filtered fresh air. The trick is to get around 2 to 3 thousand psi in the bottle that is why you need a filling station, we have 2 larger scuba tanks in the trailer that we can transfer to the smaller bottle with. Doug

    Hey Willy200,

Yes, scuba tube is the way to BUT I gotto tell you what we did before we got the scubatube...
    Check this out...

Check out the pressure this pump can reach: 250 bars = app. 3500 psi right?

This is a Swedish pump but I`m shure you can find something similar in the U.S. or anywhere..
So the night before the race: Have a couple of beers in the pit and take turns filling the bottle!!! Make friends with other teams, inviting them too!!!
I can GUARANTEE the whole team will have a laugh and all the other teams will think you`re a bunch of complete idiots!!:p :p

Works for Lenco as well :)

    all you need is:
    -4500# firefighting scba cylinder
-CGA 346 fitting for the on car cylinder (believe these are rated 3000# or less)
-CGA 347 fitting to fit the scba cylinder (3000#+)
    -filling whip (as described below)

btw... these fittings should all be available from you local welding/bottle gas supply

typically these adapters have pipe fittings on their opposite end. go to your local hydraulic shop and have them make up a whip with 10,000# rated line and female pipe fittings on each end. 3-4ft long seems to work well. also a good idea to put a t-fitting in the line with a small 3-4,000# gauge on it to regulate/watch the pressures as you fill.

    procedure:

connect the bottles together using the whip. open your on-car bottle. slowly open the larger scba cylinder and fill SLOWLY! should take about 5 minutes to fill an empty bottle. when you reach the proper 'full' pressure (either 2216# or 3000# depending on the bottle) close the scba bottle then close the on-car bottle... done deal
