Looking for info on powerglide transmissions. Cannot get transmission to go in to park proper. I can get first gear to work proper or park put not both at same time. transmission is in a dragster with a hurst quarterstick shifter. I have adjusted the linkage at the transmission but no luck.the shifter does not have any adjustments.

Are you sure your transmission shift lever is the correct one ( if it is a single hole ) or that you have the cable attached to the correct hole in the lever if it has more than one?

sounds like you need a longer cable are a different bracket on the transmission it can only be a powerglide mounting backet are you have to make one

try the simple things first...take cable off and use your hand on the lever out of the tranny to see if all the detents are working,,,also I just took out a quarter shifter for a guy that had some issues with he couldn't get it into reverse very easy so I changed it out for him....Dave

I agree with several guys above. I had a customer come in with a dragster a few weeks ago w/ Quarterstick and exactly the same problem. I drilled a lower hole in the shifter bracket to offer quicker ratio and then adjusted the cable end. When completed, we had first gear in the first gear position and park in the par position.

You can get an idea of where you need to drill by placing the shifter and lever in park and take the cable end loose from the lever and look at the lever in relation to the cable end... do the same in low gear and extrapolate where a hole would need to be on the shifter arm to attain both travel positions.... Or just get the multiple hole lever.
