    Guys,

I have a 540 Chevy with big chiefs and 871 BDS. I have the 1.25 burndown tubes on vcovers with the blue Home debot tubing connected to a 4"x4"x10" puke tank. I have 2 - 1.25" inlets and 2 - 1.25 outlets with moroso breathers vcover breathers on it.

Well it busted the top of the breathers and I taped them back on and now at the end of burnout I leave a puddle of oil on track and recently oil coming up trough distributor shaft. So finally figured out I was pressuring the motor at high R's. If I keep burnout below 7g, so puddle.

So what filters flow better? K&N? (just placed order for these trough Summit, so I hope so ;)

    What suggestions do you have?

    Thanks

Casey, call Mike Spitzer. He sells a carbon fiber puke tank like on my dragster with no filters, just baffles. How did you run this weekend ?

Two 1.25 outlets with filters are not going to flow as well as two 1.25 inlets without filters. I would add (at least) 2 more filtered outlets otherwise you are going to pressurize the system...

    Tank size?

I agree with the idea of calling Spitzer but if you don't want to buy a tank and he don't wanna give away advice then here goes...

I think your tank needs to be a lot larger, 4x4x10 is what 2 quarts. If your tank was say 10x10 and 18" tall if you wanted to maintain the same shape then you could use the top 4 inchs for baffles. The first plate would run one inch from the front of the tank to the back of the tank then an inch above that you would have another plate running from the front of the tank to one inch from the back of the tank then a third like the first. This would leave an inch at the top of the tank to run the breather tubes. The other thing you would want would be a piece of aluminum 4 inch's by 10 inchs welded at a 45 degree angle on the front of the tank so that the top of it is 1 inch below the bottom baffle to keep the oil from sloshing forward into the baffles when you hit the chute. (hopefully the tank never has a 1 1/2 gallons of oil in it when you hit the chute but that is why its there. The inlet tubes from the vavle covers would run from just below the bottom baffle to the rear of the middle of the tank where they would have a 90 radius bend pointing downwards.

we had space issues in the front of my altered after we took the injected sbc out and put the blown bbc in it, so much so that the puke tank we were using wouldn't fit anymore. we ended up buying an aluminum 8 quart baffled dry sump tank that speedway motors sells for sprint cars and used it as our new puke tank, it's 6" round and 15" tall. i made a new cover for it at work so that we could put a vent on the top of it and it fits neatly in what little room that we had.
