Guys I’ve read about 8mm compatibility years ago, but my memory sucks and for some reason I can’t find any threads about the topic anymore.

My question is, Can you run a GT2 belt on a standard 8mm pulley with some success or is that small dimension difference enough to tear up the belt?

    Good vibs shows these specs..

Any comments or experiences with results…

Thought about it for a few minutes.. I amagine, that the smaller demension belt, wouldnt care if it was on a bigger grove. My guess is, if the belt is smaller, no problem, but if you tried to run a standard 8mm belt on a gt2 pulley you then would see a problem. ??

    Just thinking out loud. :D

Gates say you can run the GT2 on HTD pulleys, but advise to use GT pulleys for new applications...
If you're pulling the teeth from the belt, you might want to try higher pre-tension to keep the belt seated at high rpm.

I just bought some 8mm stuff from RBS and they sai you can run GT belts with standard pulleys but not the standard belt with GT pulley.

I run the GT belt and standard pulley sometimes it does make alot of extra belt dust but works fine. Never broke one.
