BTW, parity is a joke, but bashing a rule on the first day is a joke too.

    Hope you were kidding.

yeah some parity when the fastest a-fuel run is over a tenth slower than the fastest blown alcohol run....and were talking optimal conditions it almost doesnt get any better than it was today.

    shoe's on the other foot

if any of you guys bitching think it's not fair than how about you look over last years results when the a-fuel cars were running from a tenth to two tenths faster at the tracks with good air. it will take a little time for the a-fuel cars to find there tune up and then if there still slower they can put a blower on there cars and run TOP FUEL:eek:
SPLIT THE DAMN CLASSES UP SO THEY CAN RUN ALL OUT!!!!!!

    Yep. split 'em up

Did you forget about a guy named Santos?

Split 'em. Let the fuelers keep improving. Let the blown cars sit at the same e.t.'s for ANOTHER seven years.

    LLLLeeeeet the "bitching" begin..................;)

Like they would ever split up the class, that is such an assinine comment. Parity or lack of it keeps the class interesting, the last few years the A/F's have been the dominant car, prior it was BAD's.
This year will be BAD's looking dominant to start and then I believe the A/F's will start to figure it out. Shields went a .38 in round one on his second lap in good air with the new rules. The BAD's have had three years with their current OD and had as good air as a national in the last year. No surprise for Whitley, Cowie, but huge kudos for Schmeekle and Demke, When was the last time, there were three BAD's in the 20's............ding ding ding.....never at the same event.

Hopefully the A/F's figure it out before to long and before they go through their parts trying to find their form. If that does not happen by April, then the NHRA should do one of three things:

    1. Give them back 1 %.
    2. Give them back 2 % and take away the cooling.
    3. Possibly run to 1000 feet and give them back their 2008 rules.

    WHat are your logical ideas

    giveth and taketh

IF anything were to happen, it would be to slow the blown cars in some way. I'm still in the way of thinking this was a move to slow the class down. I don't see them speeding the A/F cars back up. I think any actions one way or the other would be premature at this point. I don't think any decisions should be made based solely on the performance of the A/FD's in Pomona. I'd like to see what Reichert, Gallant, Conway, Snow and Monden can do with the new percentage before I cast any judgement.

Pomona was clearly a mineshaft and an odd race. One qualifying shot, and conditions that are rarely seen. I think it would be premature to judge the potential of good racers like Shields/Hopewell, Eakins, Darien, Ahten and Miersch based off an event like this. I think given a few qualifiers and normal conditions, you would have seen some more representative times.

If it's more of the same in Gainesville and Houston, all blown cars, I will stick to my word and lobby for an overdrive reduction. Not before. I think Gainesville and Houston will show that it's not as bad as some think.

give those guys a couple of races to get things figured out. remember you dont see conditions that good, but maybe once a year, and not to take anything away from those guys, but lets see what gallant and reichert can do before we start changing everything after one race.

    g-ville

just noticed shields entered for Gainesville. Should provide a very interesting cross-section of A/FD tuners. Reichert, Gallant, Conway (Manners), Monden (Lewis), Hopewell (Shields), Stoms (Finke), Hirata, Meyer (Kracht), Mercier and hell you never know Hitchman may even pull one out :p
