Prefered Bearings on a Blown Alcohol motor

I am changing the rod bearings in our 392 and just wanted everyones opinion on the prefered bearing to be using for a blown alcohol motor.

Childs and Alberts are whats being replaced.........

Let me know what you guys think.

I was going to mention that I hear the name "King" a lot but I am not familiar with them nor were to get them, any suggestions as far as were to look for them.

Aluminum is about the best bearing material there is. I had a friend who ran over something at a construction site and punched a hole in the pan of a ford escort he made it about 9 miles with his boom box covering up the clatter seized the cam in the aluminum head and broke the timing belt. I lifted myself of the ground (220pounds ) with a 4' cheater pipe and breaker bar before it broke loose. Patched the pan put a new belt on it : a year later a hear a bass thumping and look over there's Greg in his escort.

stock monster truck races were they do w,o.t. jumps with the oil pick up uncovered est... king bearings are the only ones that live.

 

I had some bad experiences with the king main bearings when I ran a smallblock ,the center of the bearing would almost like shatter and de-laminate and the bearing material would wash out. I switched to clevites and the problem was gone . Been running clevites in my hemi with no problems!

one other thing the Kings are made in Israel and with this this bad economy lets try to do our part to help and...

I have never had that shatter thing happen and used king bearings in alot of street cars and off road trucks but I have never used them in a blown motor.

The other nice thing about the King bearings is the fact that you can get the STDX if you want to really get your clearances dead on.

I'm not sure if Clevite offers that.

I ran them in my BB chevy injected on alky. I ran them and loved them. But never ran them in a blower motor. Just the babbit bearings. I heard the fuel guys used them, but that was a few years back. I guess it's like anything else. Buy them try them and you will find out if you like them. Everyone's stuff is different. what works for you doesn't mean it will work for someone else. I have run Clevite 77 H bearings in 2200 lb BBC altered 25-30 lbs of boost, steel rods. 6.70's went all year and never changed them. I keep telling myself I need a more expensive bearing but can't argue with the results.

One of Force's crew chiefs use Kings I think. I can't remember Prock or Coil.

 

have run both king and clevite (hard) in blown alcohol and blown nitro motors and both are a good bearing. all of the manufacturers have had their 'issues' whether it be an occasional delaminating event or entire 'bad batches'.

as long as you are doing proper maintenance, you did you homework in the beginning (proper clearances, pump, oiling, oil, pan, etc) and your tune-up is not out in left field either one will work fine for ya

can't blame the part if the nut behind the wheel or the monkey putting it together actually caused it
