    36 tire

We went through the 36" tire craze. Bought fuel tires from Prudohme; bought used tires from A-fuelers; bought new 36 fuel and alcohol tires from Goodyear. All they did was wad up a lot worse than the Hoosiers. We ran blown TAD, so we didn't have the torque of the A-fuelers. Went through the pressure gamut, the contact patch scenario, sidewall constuction differences, and never made it work. Good year finally admitted to us that maybe it wasn't a good idea after three closed head injuries from shake. Maybe someone else has a better outlook on them with better results, but what we found out is that if you can't make HP&Torque like Manzo, don't go there. Only our two cents and it's only worth half a penny now.

I can't vouch for the Goodyears, but we tried the Hoosier 36" tire for a couple of runs, I hopped it up 2 gear ratios and it still fell off the tire at 2.2 seconds. Maybe it was a bad set, but I put the 15 run 34.5's back on and my old ratio and went 5.34 the next run....

There are some teams that are running good with that tire, but you do have to get after it with ratio to make it work.

    My mistake!

I should have been more clear.

We have run hoosier in both dragster and funny car

The question is related to the promod as we are switch from a NHRA 20% deal to a ADRL screw blower setup. .

    Thanks

Does the pro-mod have beadlocks or liner deals. I put a set of 113 roll out 2540 goodyears on a PSI blown dragster mainly because it had beadlocks and I wanted to use a tire that someone was making work with beadlocks. I dont know about 36' hoosiers but you can get 2540 a/fuel goodyears from 112.5 to 116 r.o. The first w.o. besides a couple 10'7 burnouts 1.68 low 4.56 ring&pinion #6 in the slicks went .927 2.500 and fell off the tire like Will said. It was real fat and didnt burn any cad off most of the plugs 5.86 quarter mile, the wind was blowing really hard and pushed the car around real good. The owner/driver and one of the crew had the brilliant idea to "take a 1/2 pound out the slicks" I told 'em to go shake his brains out. Watching the car I'm not sure if it got on the bar or wadded the tire first but it wasn't pretty. Bent the wing struts tosted the hose clamps... I think with #6.25 in the slicks take some fuel out @ 8/10's and put it back in @ the top of second it'd be right in the ballpark. I know you'ld have the stuff on the car to do this because those pro mod fuel systems based on how lean you can make first and second.

Thanks for both the replys and time it takes , I really appreciate it.

Well I do have both setups but was leaning to a beadlock deal. I beleive I need to be at about 6.5 psi on the tire based on the hoosiers 5.75 .

I will try a set of 1430 goodyears already here thentake it from there . We can make the car leave well now but once it get to 2.6 sec it get kind of wild so I want to see if the big tires calms it a little. I will also get a numerically higher first gear To move that tire.

    Any other ideas?

After I re-read your post marty I agree on both tire press and fuel system. How do you think the 1430 might hold up?

i foget if the 1430 is the lighter or heavyer. in my opinon the heavy goodyear with the beadlock. and the liner deal is a good way to end up on your top;! in a doorslammer..

This is with that gizmo thing isn't it? You'll be able to turn any tire you put on it! especially with those 1/8 mile gears. Problably spin a top fuel tire; they're harder cause they shred soft tires to bits. Here's a more modern goodyear specs. than on goodyears site. http://www.carrollshelbyent.com/tires_dragway1.cfm
Stay away from those lightwieght goodyears with beadlocks. The 1430's are the heavyer ones. Ive run 15' hoosies screwed to the rim: Hooks Harrd .927 . 930 Doorslammer. I like the goodyear beadlock deal though.
