Racepak Fuel Pump Pressure Sensor

    Hey guys, I just bought and received my Racepak system today. I have a quick question that may have a simple answer, but I have never ran this before so I'm not quite sure how. I have a fuel pump pressure sensor and was curious where and how you guys plumb this sensor into your system? It seems to me that right off the pump pressure side would be best, but is there a tee fitting you use? Or do plumb it in up at the barrel valve? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    For most purposes, yes, right by the pump. I got my fitting from Good Vibrations, in the catalog its called a "Fuel Pressure take Off Adapter". The only thing I wish it was 1/4 NPT vs 1/8. But that's what I use when right by the pump.

    At the pump wont give you the nozzle pressure stagging. If you put it on the nozzle block youll be able to see the difference in b.v. settings. there is about a 20 psi difference from the pump to the nozzle block.

    It really depends on what you want to achieve with it. There is another (older) thread on here about placement of the sensor and what it's results mean. You can put it anywhere you like, depending on what information you want.

    Ask your fuel system flow guru. He'll tell you where he wants it, to help him with your fuel system.

    At the port nozzles will make it easier to diagnose problems and if you are using Davenport software this will be your point of reference. Once you get "friendly" with your fuel system this pressure will become more important in setting up the fuel system for changing altitude and weather.

    Thanks guys for all the help so far! In response to the port nozzle pressure, the system also has a sensor for the nozzle pressures. So I was assuming that the best placement for the pump was right off of it and for the nozzle pressure, I could take that reading off the distribution block. Is that a good idea or is there a better location for the nozzle pressure sensor? Thanks again for any help.

    Your question asks for pump pressure not port pressure correct ? I plumbed mine off the -3 orb port on the bottom of the K valve (the inner one I think but i'll have to check), thats what enderle says its its there for.

    The fitting from summit looks like it would be a nice way of getting fuel pressure. I was curious if anyone had taken it off the barrel valve port. If you could check to see which one you are using Robert I would appreciate it!

    I'm 99% sure that I used the port closer to the blower.
    This will tell you what your fuel pressure is between the pump and the barrel valve, and makes for a simple ,clean installation.
