Depends on how many times you drop cylinders, and shake.
shake tends to crack the ring gear at the ends of each tooth.

Call Bill Reichert and ask him. Thats all he has ever run that I know of.
I have run a 9.5 for five years with only one failure at I have no idea how many runs were on it as I got it from David Bacca who ran it in his first a-fuel car that we bought from him.
If you opt for the big rearend housing you better consider a larger than 421 engine otherwise you will be running a bunch overweight.

Actually, dropped cylinders has nothing to do with it. Tire shake and the strength of the rear end are major factors. You should also service it regularly if you want to run a 9.5.

We had a Meyer rear end housing and had good luck with it. It was very strong.

Reichert still runs a 9.5 and he has had tremendous success with it.

We now have a 10.5 Strange and it seems to be bullet proof....knock on wood.
