Rear gear back lash

    hi what is the back lash for a 9" 3.89 gear set.
    for blown red.
    not pro-gears.
    ex nascar.

    bought these off ebay

    If no backlash is written on the gear set then the setting should be .008-.010. That means that if measured in at least three points it is never closer than .008". The variation should not exceed .004".

    You can't find it engraved on the side of the ring gear on the head of the pinion?

    my dad just put a 4:10' in our 9", he set it a .008 using 4 different places on the ring gear

    That's funny, we had a set just like that in Possum's FED when he bought it. I replaced it with 4.29s, but can't remember what happened to the gears. I wonder...:D
