Getting ready to replace the 225/75R15 Towmasters on my Pace Bigfoot as it/they have been sitting a couple years and I don't trust them.

Googling, I've found RV threads that say to go with Goodyear Marathons and some that warn that they have a habit of separating.

I'd like to know which ones the racers here like and which ones they've had trouble with.

GoodYear makes a G59 series (which I believe has been replaced by a new number). Trailer manufacturers recommend them and the weight of the tire is about twice that of Michelin and others. Earl at T&E recommends them, and I've never tossed one off of my trailer, but they are expensive.

Trailer tires are good for 4 years. No matter if they are sitting or used all the time. You have a choice. You can either take them off or they will come off somewhere on the road.

the new goodyear is the g614. They last quite a few miles, disipate the heat, and have very stiff sidewalls which helps the tire not work the sidewalls so hard and cause blowouts.

Truck tires seem to hold up a lot better than trailer tires, it gets kinda old replacing chucked treads every time it gets over 90 degrees.

    Just my 2 cents,

The Goodyear G614 is a 16 ply rated tire, and looks very impressive and heavy duty, they weigh 50# ea. We did have one fail, but it could have been due to a road hazard. Went back to Michelins. Note that we have a lot of Michelins and run them at rated pressure plus 10psi for heavy loads.

We only run Michelin truck tires on a 16" wheel on our Performax. Everything else we have used ends up coming apart.

    GO Goodyear

Our experience wasn't that great with Michilins. We would pay the extra money for Michilins and then pay extra money for fenders each time they came apart.
We put the Goodyears on and they cost alot! But Niver also got them and that made me feel better. We've never had a problem since.
I recently put Hankooks on my motorhome and so far so good.
You defineltley want to look at the load range for the tire and make sure the tire is rated for the weight. We all know we are carrying way too much crap!

I watched the late Harley Griffith throw three Michelins off his trailer one hot day on his way to Las Vegas. I threw one off my old Chapparral and it was the last.

Hey Johnny, great run at Pomona a few weeks ago. I'm reminded of the time I ran my first "5" in 1993 at Pomona. Jim Rizzoli came over and congratulated me (us old Top Gas West racers still hang together) and said:

"Great run! Just don't do like I did and take 2 years to run the next one!"

After some research, I think I'm going with these.

    http://www.badboytires.com/viewproduct.php?id=500

Found out that a lot of companies sell their tires inside the U.S. without that extra nylon cap while including it in tires sold OUTSIDE the U.S.

I called there today. A living, breathing person answered the phone, I told him I wanted to check shipping costs for trailer tires.

He replies with "I bet you're interested in our Maxxis 225/75R15 trailer tires"

    Me: "How did you know?"

Him: "We sell a LOT of those!"

According to their website they make a 16 inch tire, but in my opinion it is very expensive.
