Help Div. 4 announcer Lynn Nickerson live his dream
Donations sought to send cancer survivor to Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School

Many of us know the ‘voice’ of NHRA Division 4, Lynn Nickerson. He brings an unparalleled love of the sport to the microphone when he announces. Many times you can see him walking around the pits with his notepad to get the inside scoop on what’s going on. He’s been a winner off the track as he has battled cancer twice and came out on top.

While he’s announced everything from Jr. Dragsters to Top Fuel, he has yet to make a pass down the track in a racecar. It has been a long-time dream for Nickerson to get on the track, but he has never had the opportunity. The financial strains of his battles with cancer have certainly not helped.

Division 4 racers Linda Hoover and Cody Draper are working to help Nickerson live his dream of driving a racecar down the track. They are trying to raise enough money to send him to Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School in Gainesville, Fla., for their Super Comp Dragster course. There Nickerson will receive instruction from Nitro Funny Car driver Jack Beckman, a fellow cancer survivor, and former Nitro Funny Car Champion Frank Hawley.

All proceeds will go to Nickerson to not only cover his expenses for the class, but to help cover his continual medical bills.

Please make checks out to Linda Hoover (care of Lynn Nickerson), who is coordinating the fund. Checks are to be mailed to Cody & Cindy Draper, 107 Saddle Club Rd., Weatherford, TX 76088, for individual accounting. Draper can be reached at (817) 994-2729 to answer any questions about the fund. It is requested that checks be received no later than Nov. 15.

Hey Will, I'm in. I will donate $500.00 towards Lynn's big adventure.
I challenge all the alcohol f/c and dragster pilots to donate at least $100.00. Unkefer, this means you as well!

If you don't know Lynn Nickerson, you need to introduce yourself. I have had the pleasure of working with him in the announcer's booth and he is truly a fan of the sport and one of the most genuine people I know.

Lynn, you will have the time of your life!

    Dennis Taylor.

    Yo DT

Sorry pal, I really beat you to the punch on this one....... My donation hit the collection plate @ the Red River LODRS event 3 weeks ago! Talk about being late on the tree!
Lynn is someone that I consider a very good, close friend, and someone that has gone through HELL fighting cancer not once but TWICE as you know.
Now that his second bout is in remission what better way to celebrate life than to live out a life long dream, and that's what we all want for Lynn.. Glad to see that he's going to be able to go.
I'm working on getting IDR there to film it for one of their shows. Hopefully that will come about as well.
While Lynn & I were announcing the LODRS event in Noble, Jimmy Hidalgo (The Country Dog) came up with the idea of Lynn and I doing a 2 out of 3 match races in stockers next spring at the Jegs Cajun Sportsnationals. Sounds like fun to Lynn & I, except I'm hearing Lynn 's gonna get the big block and I'll be in the small block car.....hhmmmmmm, something smells fishy to me....
    See you in Pomona!

    kudos to Doug Foley!

SEWELL, N.J. -- When Top Fuel pilot Doug Foley heard that friends of NHRA announcer and cancer survivor Lynn Nickerson were putting a fund together to fulfill Nickerson's lifelong dream to drive a racecar, he took things one step further. Foley runs Doug Foley's Drag Racing School when he's not racing himself and quickly offered Nickerson free tuition in any two-day licensing course at his world-renowned school.
"My buddy Rob Geiger at AutoWeek magazine got an email about a fund that was being set up for Lynn and asked if we would donate a school program for him," Foley said. "Of course we were more than happy to say yes.

"I look forward to having Lynn at our school and teaching him how to drive a dragster. After all those years of talking about racing, he's finally going to have a chance to experience the thrill first hand. I promise he won't be disappointed."

Foley offers classes at various locations across the country. His next school takes place Nov. 7-8 at zMax Dragway at Concord in Charlotte, N.C. For more information, visit www.DougFoley.com.
