i have a jp1 block and a set of aj fuel heads , every thing fits up good except for the exhaust pushrod holes in the block dont line up properly with the ones in the head and the pushrods bind . i can feel its not right when i try and set the valve lash , it slightly flexes the pushrod till it lines up in the cup........intake ones are good . looks like i will have to machine the block to match them up..........heads should be interchangeable left to right.............any body else been through this.

goin through this right now, just on the intake pushrod holes......... gotta have them machined also........ brad heads, KB block. pretty standard, you'd think everything would be fine...... im used to this kinda mess though. nothing on my motor just bolts up. everything needs a little tweaking.

sounds like its not that uncommon , any idea why these holes would not line up ......seems to be mostly exhaust , should i just remove enough to get it to work freely from the spot where it contacts or put the head ina mill and make the hole bigger ?

ok......progress report!!!!!!! i put a .120 taller crane lifter in and then cut a old pushrod down and made a checker so i could shorten it and the problem has gone .......only checked one tonite , i will go through all the others and double check but i think thats what will fix it.......
