I'm going to be picking up some long (port) nozzle bodies (anyone have 8 they wanna part with???). Which is preferred? Aluminum or Brass? My hats are brass. just curious.

I would prefer to pick up a used set (hint...hint)

    Thanks everyone.

I've got a set of 8 Long Ports... I switched over to the port ball checks.

    What are they worth?

    Greg,

IMO you want brass. Only go with Al if you get a great deal...

The brass ones are definetly better in that they don't crack as easily and dont corrode. We tossed out all the aluminum ones we had a while ago.

Thanks guys for the input. I couldn't figure out why you would want aluminum. Weight maybe. They are anodized but cracking hadn't crossed my mind.

    Aluminum

The only thing aluminum nozzle bodies are good for is cracking. IMO.

How Are They Cracking? While Installing Them? I've Always Run The Aluminum And Have Yet To Break One

I've had them split the long way on the nozzle jet end, several cracks like this probably from overtightening.
The other thing I've had is the threads gall and get messed up after threading them in and out many times.

If you happen to over tighten the nozzle it mushrooms the top and cracks down the wrench flats because they're so thin. Also, if you happen to get an aluminum nozzle body seized in your manifold, injector, what have you, have fun getting it out- they often just snap off.

Whereas with the brass you can (not saying you should go crazy with it) make the nozzle a little tighter without cracking them. Just one less thing to go wrong.

You need either stainless or ti. They are a little pricer, but are far superior and stands the test of time. Any of the nozzle bodies are great UNTIL....... that's when you need a good nozzle body and you will be glad you made the intitial investment. Richard Hartman makes ours. He makes nozzle bodies for most of the fuel teams on the circuit. He can be reached at 864 338 9942. Tell him Andy Kelley sent you. Nah, he'll probaly charge you more if you mention me.
