How do I start this thing. It's got a pedal clutch and the lenco does'nt have a neutral. How do I prevent throwout pressure against rear main before oil pressure?

You get a pump driver, take out the mag ,put the pump drive on a drill and spin the pump over with the drill till you get oil pressure. Dahaaa.:D

    Is this a hemi?

In the morning up in the jack stand I crank it a realease the cluth pedal right after start.

On the race trank , there is nothing else to do but start it up.

Remember IF the cluth air gap is setup up correctly and your are not bottoming up the cluth , then there is no force on the trust bearing.

Ok, in fear of sounding stupid... How does the lenco not have a neutral in the reverser ? I run a lencodrive and i didn't know that their reverser was any different from any other lenco.

there is usualy a spot between gears that is a fragile kind of neutral, but for the warm up we always put it in gear and crank it and start it in gear and dont depress the clutch untill its warm, in the lanes we always start in gear with the clutch in

I hope you mean with the pedal released
when it is depressed you have all the base pressure against it

No hemi/ Its a KB olds with AJs'
No neutral is because the slider goes back to ingage the reverse planits and forward to ingage direct. In between the slider will engage both, soos ya gotta STOP to go from forwards to backwards

My CS1 lenco does not have a nuetral. In fact I dont know of any that do. It is either in forward or reverse. I start a cold motor by pushing in the clutch and spinning the motor with the starter until I see oil pressure on the gauge. Once there is oil pressure we fire the motor. I haven't ever hurt a thrust surface on the mains. I don't know how much pressure is exerted on the thrust surface by pushing the clutch in- never measured it, never had a reason to measure it. Every car with a clutch sees some pressure on the thrust surfaces when the clutch is pushed in. I haven't ever seen anything in a owners manual on a clutch equipped car from the factory. I am sure if it was a problem it would be in there somewhere if the car was to go a few hundred thousand miles. Dave Germain

    Lenco neutral

Phone Lenco and tell them you want to install a neutral in your reverser. They can do it for you, or they will send you the parts. You need a new Reverse slider, one that has a groove in it for the forward drive gear to pass through. This will give you a position between fwd and rvs that the reverser will free wheel.

    Hope this helps

    thrust

any time you put a new block, crank, clutch, input shaft, etc, in the car you need to check to make sure you still have crankshaft end play in high gear.

to check this install drivetrain, turn the air on and put the car into high gear. then check the crankshaft for end play. this can be done with a screw driver. it just needs a few thousandths...about .005 or more. if the crankshaft does not have endplay, it will eat the crank and thrust bearing out of it.

to fix the problem, you need to have the input shaft shortened.

i don't think this is as much of a problem with converter cars as clutch cars.
