All AFD are going to have a problem... We tested 97.8% before the run in the lanes on Collin's hydro, and at the other end in fuel check it was 98%. This is going to be a big problem, because:

    1. temp changes

    2. hydro differances

    3. the guy reading it.

My sugestion is to measure it in the lanes and put a seal on the tank. This will also speed up the turn arround time.

I hope this gets straighten out before someone gets DQ'd.

They check top fuel at the fuel check trailer also and they dont seem to have this problem of it being right when they get there. Sure there has been a few that have been disqualified but I dont see the nhra checking them before a run. And dont think that they are not pushing the 85% to the limit either. I do think that if it was checked before a run and sealed then it would speed up turn around time but they are checking the alcohol at the other end after the run so they are gonna just do the same with the nitro cars. I think that if it was checked before a run tho a person would be able to figure out a way of cheating the system somehow. Dont really know for sure how but I bet a guy could do it.

Cheaters will always figure out a way to cheat.
Don't think it can't be done after the run before you even make the turn if that is your nature.
Word is that NHRA has recalibrated their digital hydrometers so they no longer read 104% when testing a drum of 98 at 68 degrees.

bob does this mean they need to lower the % to 95 % if your info is correct to make it comparable to the runs already made with the wrong hydro ???

    Lee,
The fuel cars were running a true 98% at Pomona and Bradenton. They had drums of 98 and had to add small amount of alcohol to get it back to 98 even though it was a true 98 at 60 degrees. Anyway this is what Will posted.

we had a left over drum of full nitro from last year, so we were cutting it from 99.6 to 98

The World Alcohol Racers (WAR)runs the A-Fuel Dragsters and the Blown Alcohol Dragsters together also. For 2005 we will not be restricting the A-Fulers and will allow them to run 100% Nitro. It is the goal of the World Alcohol Racers to split the two classes and run them separately, by 2006, and showcase the fuelers as the Kings of WAR. We will need two things to make this happen. First off we need high car counts, secondly we need a sponsor for this "PRO NITRO" class. We are currently working on sponsors to move in this direction. If we have enough participation in this class we will make it happen.
