I`am running a 375 big Chevy blown on alky in comp eliminator.
After 6 full passes i pulled the pan to check out the bearing situation.
All bearings looked fine with the exeption of the rear thrust bearing. (only the
rear thrust surface) As i`am using a glide, i was afraid to have to less converter clearance but the pump gear showed no unusual signs.
Crank endplay is the 0.011 range.
The rear thrust surface really looked bad so i`am urgently looking for a fix
    for the problem.

    Any ideas?

    thank you

What do you mean by it looked really bad? Was it chewed up or evenly worn a lot?

Back a hundred years ago when we ran an automatic behind a Chevy we would bolt the tranny and converter to the engine and then make sure the crank still has plenty of thrust.

I believe their is a converter to flexplate measurement. If I remember correctly with the tranny bolted in place with the converter installed but the converter unbolted from the plate requires an 1/8" of play with the converter pushed all the way back.

    thrust bearing

Converter balooning was also my first thought but the pump gear is looking
not "unusual" and the thrust bearing surface is nearly down to the bare steel.

    Bearing

What are you running for a flex plate? If it is solid, it does not flex, We had that problem years ago with that. Just thought I would throw that out. Good luck Don
