I was looking at the Lenco clutch disk for a CS1 and was wondering if this was a disk out of some type of OEM automatic that Lenco just uses.

It would be nice if it was and you could pick them up at the local auto parts store. Needless to say, save money too.

Anyone know if the disk are a match to some OEM automatic?

Someone told me that they thought that the clutch plates out of an older jeep/amc automatic to be the same as a CS1??????????.

The clutches are used out of an old Ford cast iron transmission. I think they used to call it an FMX. I highly doubt you'll get them at your local parts store, but you should be able to pick them up at a transmission supply house.

    cs1 clutches

I believe they are based on Ford C6 clutch disks with the inside spline tabs trimmed back (bigger inside hole). We messed with getting standard Ford disks and machining them but found it was just better at the time to buy the Lenco stuff. Also one of the problems with the after market C6 clutch disks was a difference in pattern and grove depth from the stuff from Lenco. I was never sure about the fluid and shift force with those differences. Also one of our tuneup wizzards recommended using thicker Ford C6 disks to adjust for pack cliearance and again we found the just sticking to the standard Lenco combination worked well. I know of one racer who reduced the number of disks to as little as 5 (with about 1800 HP) and used the Lenco aluminum floater disks or a machined aluminum spacer. But with that combo, it was good for about one outing. And at the limit with that power level. In addition, it is my understanding that Lenco has some aluminum stuff for inside the trans to reduce rotational weight.
