What about O'Bannon right now? That team seems to have that car running well.

5.54 and 261. Yea, maybe DT should be 10th or 11th.

Maybe if he was from the East Coast that would help, too. Division 7 cars really suck.

no i take nothing away from the 5.54
but he hasnt been running that good all year
if he keeps running that strong until the end of the year then hell ya he dersives to be concidered a top 5 car
but i do give he credit for running that good

I think that with the exception of Frank Manzo all of the guys on that list have had up and down seasons. But I do sense a little of the west coast vs east coast thing there. I go with Randy G's opinion. Dave Germain

Jeg's Allstars. Doug Gordon (Div 7) won that one over the king.

    I'm glad to oblige.:D

To help those who do not know the rules, the official Power Ranking Formula is calculated by adding the last 25 runs (full passes only, no shut offs) of each contender, then dividing the total by 25 to get an average elapsed time and speed.

Then, take the number of round wins over the last six months and assign each a point. One point for first round, two for second, three for third and a whopping ten points if you win a divisional event. Twenty points if it was a national event. Divide by the total entries to obtain an average point total in order to obtain an average cumulative finishing score.

Now, take the square root of the average e.t. total found above, multiply it by the total average events won from the points structure described in the paragraph above. Take the sub totals and add them together for a total prefacto sub total. You are getting close to knowing the answer you desire.

The final step is known as the East/West Factor. Please take the number arrived at in the paragraph above and divide it by the Division number for which that participant claims as his or her home Division.

Example: 210 points divided by 7 (Division 7) equals 30 total points. Or, that same 210 points divided by 3 (division 3) equals 70 total points. This is helpful in that it eliminates possible ties and creates a fairness only found in presidential candidate speech transcripts. The higher the final point total, the higher the Power Ranking!

For example, if Dwayne Shields runs a 5.17, he does not upset the division 2 racer who, on the same weekend might run 5.40. Because it all averages out and is offset by the East/West Factor

For those who need further explaination: The numbering system, averages, factors and mathematical calculations are based on the premise that the exponent expressing the power to which a fixed number (the base) is used must be raised in order to produce a given number and a desired result. If the desired result can not be achieved, the base must be adjusted and recalculated using the antilogarithm computed to the base (assumed to be 10) only if deemed appropriate to the desired results. If desired results were not achieved, please refer to paragraph 8, section a) in the official Power Ranking Calculations and Formulas section in the back of the NHRA rule book for hints on recalculating.

    Thank you,

    RG

I wasn't there, but I was told they both broke.

DT is running a brand new, unproven combination. That's why it's taken a while to figure out the flow and what it liked and didn't like. I'm Stoked for him and his team that they are back up to their potential. It's been a long time coming.

Gasparrelli is another one, they went through about a year and a half of scratching their heads on what was wrong with a BRAND NEW CAR, well, they found out and are doing Very Well!!

I refuse to pick top 5, East West or Middle East or West, there are great cars in every division and when a little bit of luck falls in your court for the weekend, heck, that carries a lot of weight to it. This is no disrepect to anyone out there with a car that is trying, really trying, but look at Valadez this last weekend.

    Enough said :)
