BBC Valve Cover Clearence Issue

I have a BBC with big brodie heads and a littlefield competition intake . My problem is the composite and sheetmetal valve covers that I have are both hitting the intake . Is there a valve cover that will solve this problem or will I have to modify the sheetmetal covers to fit ? Has anyone ever seen this problem before ? Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!

 

i use the cast brodix tall style... and they hit the port nozzles depending on the manifold we're running. mine are 'clearanced' on the intake side (read get out your grinder )

and fwiw... do your self a favor and don't even entertain the idea of running studs... just use proper length bolts and go ahead a buy a heli-coil kit

 

Hitting

Well it's not just my port nozzels . The whole lip of the valve cover is against the intake . It looks like it needs about a 1/4" of clearence to fit . I wish there was an easy fix cause this is gonna take some work .

Buy or make a set of spacers. Jegs Etc. It raises the covers . Don

The old 70's Milodon valve covers clear barely without modification.

I think fel-pro mr-gasket makes a double thick gasket I used them about a year ago Just do not remember who makes them I had a buddy that had the same problem and he cut the top part of the intake at about a 45 above where it seals working fine gooooood luck Craig

Call Mickey Williams. He will make anything you need. His valve cover rails can range from 3/8 to 1 inch thick and can take on any shape necessary to clear the hardware issues you are having.

I had that problem with a smallblock and I had to mill down the top of the manifold where it hit and the edge of the valve cover.
