torque specs

    getting ready to put my heads back on........ i cant for the life of me remember how much to torque em........ brad heads, kb block, 7/16's studs.... looking for the torques for the four that go into the oil galley also... i cant recall if they were different or not....... im too damn young to be losin my memory already ;)

    7/16 studs????? don't think so..if you have the 9/16 they are set at 55# valley middle row 145# lower 125#....use a good torque lube ...peanut butter is what we use..dave

    your right, 9/16ths...... ive got too many pans on the stove over here, had another job in my head....... thanks for the info. its greatly appreciated.

    ok, now that i look like a real jerk......... ive got 9/16's in the center that hold the stands down.......... then 1/2" for the others........... then 7/16ths for the 4 that point down into the oil galley............ how should i torque her down?....... can you tell im the driver? LOL.......... my dad is the engine man, and hes been laid up for a while......... tryin to get her runnin to surprise him when he gets home............. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    I'm assuming you're saying the top row is 9/16, the bottom row is 1/2 and the inners are 7/16, which is standard.

    use the peanut butter lube and torque the top row to 140, the bottom row to 120 and the inners to 45 lbs with a crows foot on a 3/8 torque wrench.

    as to what order, you'll hear ten different versions. i always torqued middle out and had good luck.

    also you need to walk them in. start at 80, torque them all down, then go to 100, then go to 120, then do the top at 140. then torque the inside last.

    always remember the inside head bolts are the first ones off and the last ones to go on.
