I recall will hanna posting about transmission air lines. (for shifting) his point about the plastic line melting has been trapped in the back of my mind. now I cant find the thread nor remember who he recommended for a different type of hose. It wasnt a steel braided line. more flexable I believe. anybody? thank you

Do a search for a thread with the key word 'Goodridge'. There's a couple there Will has put up about the new lines.

We just use the rubber injector hoses; the newer ones are rated to 1000 psi, even the 500 psi versions will work. We run steel brake line inside the chassis to within a foot or so of the transmission to keep the length of the rubber hoses down.

Maybe i'm missing something, if you're on fire and the lines melt, what's the problem? Carbon dioxide is not flammable and if anything might help displace the oxygen and make it harder to sustain the fire?

Just read will's post about the trans downshifting if it loses air, i run a lencodrive so maybe it's different, but when we release the air the motor freewheels.

    low gear

If you lose air pressure while you're in high gear at wide open throttle, Lenco, Lencodrive or B&J will kick down until something breaks. The rods usually don't stay in it very long when this happens.

Give me a call at 979.415.4959 and I can get you fixed up with a braided line with a fire retardant sleeve.

Steel braided alone would be a major upgrade over the plastic air line or a rubber air line.

Check out this website http://cableorganizer.com/fireretardant/ they sell a fire retardant expandable sleeving that may not be a bad option to help protect airlines as well any wiring on a the car. They have several products that are flame retardant but this one is the most economical. I buy a lot of heat shrink and expandable sleeving from them because you can order in quantities as small as one foot. It’s a great company to work with.

    Air lines

Just use standard DOT air lines covered with spark plug wire sheilding {the stuff is fire proof try burning it] Make sure you push it over the fittings and into the frame.Had many of fires and didn't burn the lines. Mike::rolleyes:
