I HEARD THAT BIG FUEL CHAMBERS NEED ALOT OF TIMING. OF COURSE COMPRESSION AND BLOWER HAVE SOMETHING TO DUE WITH IT

I ran a motor on Walt Austin's dyno when I had the Walt Austin heads with a 173 cc chamber. We started at 29 degrees lead with a MSD 44 and a PSI screw blower. We did dyno pulls in 2 degree increments all the way to 37 degrees advance. It made additional power at every increase of advance. I don't know how far it would have gone because we stopped at 37 degrees. But there is a warning too- nothing kills parts faster than ignition advance. Use it sparingly cause it can hurt things in a hurry. Dave Germain

I would think if you are running a 12-1 motor, psi blower putting out say 50lbs, and dual mags you would stay around 20-26 total. on the other end, like my engine, 11-1, HH, 30lbs I run 34-38 total. more importantly I read the electrode. spark plug 101 really help me.

I actually talked to BAE yesterday and asked them about that. After feeling guilty that I even bothered the beloved Brad people for three minutes one guy told me he ran 40* and left it at that. Seems a little high. Now that I think about it, probably best to ask ignition questions to the ignition guys. :D :p

i initially talked to Brad about our combo. we all know that he is one of the smartest guys out there, that's a given....but....
he told me to run our combo....540" big chamber motor 14-71 HH etc. like this... 12 to 1 comp, 50 over on the blower, and 40 in the mag. you know, that combo would probably fly, but i don't have quite as many parts to throw at my car as Brad does:rolleyes:
we run a big chamber head and the motor is very happy at 28-30, stay safe and work on tuning your motor around a lower initial timing....it might save you a few parts. now, on the other hand if you have more resources, and are trying to rotate the earth, then bump it up a little. i know everyone has an opinion, and there will be alot of people who disagree with what i am saying......just my 2 cents.
