Young man QUIT before the needle get sunk further in:D Take up something less addicting like Booze, drugs and Hookers. You'll thank me one day.

BTW, I'd do a bantam bodied front engine 426 powered nitro dragster.

    Good luck.

It depends on where you want to go and what class you are going to race.
If you want to race TAFC, I'd go with the Bantum because of the shorter wheelbase. I know someone whose kid is in the same situation as you are and he wants to race TAFC so he's going with a Bantum. I think they are going to go bracket racing first because he wants to start the kid out at a relatively low mph and then built up performance as the kid gets more seat time.

On the other hand, if you are going to race one of the 90 classes or T/D, go the rear engine dragster route.

remember two things. a street car is a street car. keep your daily driver stock, and speed parts on your race car.......... and when you do go to buy parts, take the extra time and save up for good ones. buying cheap parts, saves you a couple bucks today, but costs you thousands later. TRUST ME!!!

This is a biased opinion, but go with the altered. If you can drive an altered...a dragster of any type is easy. Your not too far from Tampa so get a hold of Mark Jones if you can. He has an Outlaw Fuel Altered and might be able to give some first hand insight for your decision. Whatever you decide to do go with what your heart says and enjoy it to the fullest. These things only last so long.

i am a little biased here too......go with the bantam.....and have S&W build you a chassis. if i ever have the $$ to build another one, i will be giving them another call. maybe if i can ever get it to run fast they will put it in their catalog( hint to Don):D

Kurt Fleishman at Prostart Racecars built my bantum-he builds a lot of Funny cars as well (new Follow the Dream car, new Roger Bateman car that won best engineered at Topeka, Cy Chesterman, as well as many other cars). He does great stuff. You can send him at PM by clicking on his post about the best Engineered award below.

    32 Bamtam

I live in Lakeland. I just bought a 32 Bantam roller. I am currently taking the 408 SBC, 8-71 with Bird Catcher and alky out of my "lead sled" 86 S-10 (3360 lbs) and installing it in the Bantam. It weighed 1220 with a small block ford in it so it ought to scat down the track with this alky motor.

Keep watching the classifieds here. If it scares the "be-jesus" out of me, it will probably be available!:D

Good luck, no matter what you decide. If you get a 13 second car or a 4.5 second car, it all still fun!

Best bet is to probably get as much experience with your old man (dad) if the opportunity is there and if he will give up the seat. Any seat time is better than none until you can get the funds or have the operation ready to roll. Just my opinion.
I'm usually just a lurker to the forums, but thought I'd make a post for once...
