SM rated lousy API certified 5w-30 oil! Or non detergent motor oil. NO E.P OILS!

Good ol' Dexron III tranny fluid (NOT type F) has worked for us for years and years. Tried the motor oil deal and didn't like it, seemed too easy to screw up spragues.

Nathan, CS1 or CS2? Gears and bearings generally look okay? Any foaming problems? How often do you change the fluid? Was wondering about running Dexron IIIe in mine but would first like to talk to someone who has.

MTigges, what do I look for on a can/bottle to avoid EP oils? I know what EP means, but how do I avoid it if I'm looking at a container?

To all, has anyone data logged the difference back to back in terms of shift time/abruptness with oil versus Dexron?

    Thanks.

SM API rated oils have very little ZDDP in them. (back of quarts)

With ATF (Synergyn super shift)we would burn the planet washers.

    TOL,

CS1. Gears and bearings always look good, nothing out of the ordinary just normal wear. We change it every event or so. Always NON-synthetic, but we're not picky on the brand, as long as it's a dexron III. 1.25qts in front, 1.25qts in middle, 0.5qts in reverser.

0-20 Pennzoil or Valvoline Syn. Has allways done terrific in our units clutches like new sprags show no wear have ran as many as 3 seasons change parts just to change them. Change oil every 3 races. Mike

I run the Lenco Drive and run Mobil 1 Dextron III ATF. Six years and have replaced the clutches once just in case. Everything else looks like new.

Thanks guys, havn't been having any problems,(not in that area anyway!) been running 5-30 Synthetic, just wondering if there was anything better. I do like this better than ATF, seemed to have more wear and harsher shifts w/ATF.
