ring gap

    What would be the ring gap for a top tool steel dykes ring for a inj. nitro motor..4.375 bore . .018 ?? Thanks Don

    We ran C&A steel top ring
    on the A/fuel combo 421ci, 4.375 bore with .028 for the gap
    car ran 5.20`s low 30`s,.
    .018 is a bit too tight

    Not sure if there's a difference with nitro, but I won't run less than .032 on the top ring, any tighter and your ring will butt up, wreck your cylinder wall, and rob you of horsepower.

    Haha, that's just the best case scenario. You'll be lucky if that's all it does.
