I have a mag 44 that i am wiring up and am not sure on the kill switch. I have a switch panel with the big red kill switch in it. I also have a master disconnect that has extra terminals for mag kill. Do i run wires to both of these devices in parallel that will connect the + and - side of the coil when either of them is thrown? I am also running an MSD Digital 7 box and think that if i kill the power to that it will also kill the mag due to no trigger signal if the box is off. I also need to know where to get a 24 volt starter solenoid. Will a standard starter solenoid work or does it need to be a certain model? Thanks!!!

Danny, on my car I ran the ground wire from the master switch in back of car seperatly from the big red button. Both go to the positve terminal on the 44 coil to short to ground if thrown seperatly. My master switch in back keeps going bad due to tire shake and will kill the car about 60 ft in run, and its only on the coil side the main power is still own, got to find a better swich than the flaming river. As far as solenoids i run the heavy duty 12 volt from jerry bickle for $24.00 and have thrown 24 volts all year with no problems NOCK ON WOOD, but I never have to crank for over a few seconds and i have a spare in trailer to. I want to experiment with a golf cart solenoid but have not had time. howard

If you kill the digital 7 you will kill the mag.

I can tell you that if there is no power to the Dig 7 the mags will have no output. It is not necessary to have those big old grounding switches. I run dual 44's with one toggle switch to power the six shooter and retard on and off. No problems. If you don't believe me call David Lehey.

I kill mine by the retard toggle switch configuration also. Never had a problem.

I called Lehey and asked him what is the best kill switch to use on a 44 amp mag?? his reply, " do u use any timing control, if so thats the best thing"...
think about it, then there is no primary ignition wiring, when u kill the timing control your only switching the signal from the trigger.....Mike

    I asked MSD this question.
Are there any potential risks to shutting down a 44 mag by cutting power to the retard box/6 shooter? Instead of grounding the coil.

    aj481x,
That will work but is not the most desirable way. It is better off grounding out the coil on the 44 as we show in the instructions.
    Thanks,
