Autometer is the one that most are using.

We don't have a tach. We use the MSD 5 stage system. I highly recommend it, it's easy to use and you don't have to look down to get to rpm, you just use your shift light.

    hope this helps

Back when I was helping Dennis Taylor in 2003 I threw his tach and everything else off his car to save weight.

    "Whaddya do that for?"

I replied "The tach is for setting the idle, and it idles fine."

Nancy is right on the money. Use the MSD window switch with two RPM chips if you are having trouble with the launch RPM. Tachs are unreliable as well as an uneccessary distraction.

Randy and Nancy are right. MSD makes a reliable unit for the shift light. I'm 63 and still like a tach. I put in the Autometer 6858 with the shift light. Run it from the adapter box I had in the car. It's light and reliable. I don't shift from the tach, just the light. It helps me when I see it go over 10k going in the lights. It makes you pucker and wonder if it's going to blow or you can shut it off in time.
