Let me preface first. I started with small stuff in composites, which has led to making a body for nostalgia nitro funny car. Along the way I've been asked if I would consider making new style bodies. So I need some feedback.

Body availability seems limited at best. Either buy a body that is well worn from another alky racer, or get one from a fuel funny car team. If you get one from a fuel team it will not be a mustang or stratus. If I'm right, the only place where you can buy a body brand new is through HairyGlass, and your selection is limited.

The other thing that comes to mind. New bodies that are avail have been designed with the needs of a fuel funny car, not an alky funny car.

Before saying that I want to do this, or will do this, I need to know if there is enough demand for another source, and other style bodies. If yes is the answer, then I know I'll have to check with the mfg's for licensing and liability, not to mention any desire to have bodies with the alky guys in mind.

In the meantime, I'm going to stick with the small stuff, and old stuff. I would like some good, informative feedback.

I know when we went looking for a new 99 GM body I had to get the OK from GM to buy it from Harry's so we went with a cheaper 97. There is some other problem also. This is why Reagles quit making Vette bodys. I don't know but, maybe Lic fees and wind tunnle time that GM paid for?
But how about some cool bodys like
Z-350,GTO,Lexes, Toyota just got in to NASCAR maybe they would like a in-road in to IHRA-NHRA? There is a guy on the east coast that runs a Saab body and Tolaver has a Toyota If we keep our car we need a new body(I would love to be a genni pig) I have tested many burst panels getting the tune up right

Theres nothing wrong with running a fuel body on an alcohol car. it just might be required that you get a taller injector, otherwise, if it fits to the frame, your fine.

I dont think anyone is worried about the body fitting to the frame. They are more worried about the amount of downforce created by the body itself and producing too much drag that might slow the cars down.

Some of the application problems using a current fuel body on alky cars is information I got from a buddy of mine who knows as much if not most about the design of funny car bodies. He is also the one that initially dropped the bug in my ear about doing current bodies, but due to his contract, he is really limited as to what he can offer in the way of information.

As far as the downforce from a fuel body,, there is way more than an alky car really neads. They need enough to stick and be stable, anymore will come off as drag.
