I have an opprotunity to buy Lucas oil at jobber.
Are some of you using the 50 plus racing oil (pn 10044 qt, 10094 gal)?
I have an injected nitro bbc nostalgia deal, I have been using the Brad penn 50 and King bearings and have had great results, but at more than $1/qt less and supporting an NHRA series sponsor, I might try the Lucas. thanks

    Oil

In the pass I have helped an NHRA alcohol team that used Lucas Oil, but the one thing he did, was always add a quart or 2 of stabilizer with each oil change. Not sure why, but the car never seems to have any oil related problems. With the Brad Penn they have not reduced the amount of ZDDP (zinc, anti-wear additive) in their oil and the teams that I have seen use the “Green Oil” don’t use additives. The extra cost of the stabilizer may off set the extra $1.00 per qt for Lucas. Just my 2 cents.

We run Lucas 50 and 70 in our TAFC with a dry-sump system, about 19 quarts total (including the sump tank, oil pan, filter, lines). We usually split it half and half, unless it is really hot out, then we run more 70 than 50, and vice-versa if it is cold outside. If they made a 60 weight we would most likely run that instead of mixing 50 and 70. We also put 2 quarts of the Lucas stabilizer in whenever we change the oil.

We used to run the green Kendall. When it went away we tried the Lucas---with ESPN cameras in the pit taping, and a celeb in the car, the oil pressure at idle went from 165 down to zero as the oil got hot. (ESPN had us keep going after we would have normally stopped). Scratched two rod brgs. and then found out that the Lucas 70 had parafin in it as a viscosity control. We've since gone to Valvoline 70----it goes on forever without thinning down.
