removing gell lube

I think rbs sells the remover it is high I would take the blower apart I would be scared the heat would take out the seals just a thought

If you guys want a good gel lube for a roots, check out Drummond American's "Prism Gel Lube" part#DA6880. It is great stuff. Alot of people have taken it and sold it with their own "Blower Lube" label on the can. We were buying it from a repackager until we figured out where it was coming from. Maybe a better question, regarding my current topic (yes, I'm thread hijacking), would be...

How tough is it to remove the front bearing plate with rotors still attached on an SSI?

I've done a standard roots, unstripped that I didn't care about before, but I don't want to hose a good blower.

Good info, but I guess I should have been more specific.

How much hassle, and can I screw anything up (other than stripping out bolts) is it to simply remove the front/rear bearing plates, leaving the rotors attached to the front plate, so I can have the case powder coated?

 

WJ, I think I see what you are asking...you want to take it out leaving the end frame and gears on so all you have to do is slide it back together..I don't think that will work..were do you live? wish you lived close I would do it for you and shoe you how to do your blower.it is very simple once you have watched..Dave Lowe

Actually, Wizbang and I discussed it tonight... I think I'm going to attempt removing the rear bearing plate, then tapping on the rear rotor shafts with a dead blow hammer, pushing both rotors and the front bearing plate out together.

I can then take JUST the case and have it powder coated.

Make sense?

 

I just talked to SSI. I asked if they have ever done a blower dyno comparison. he said they just always use it.
Sooooo, I had it in my blowers and I didn't know it. damn, I thought I could gain a little more by using it.

I talked to Dave at Drummond American today.
They have a $50.00 min. order and each can is something like $11.50 each.

Six cans would last me for about 6 years.....

I watch boost numbers very close and never saw a decline this past season.

 

when is the best time to spray it in idling or rolling motor over

 

We normally open the butterflies and spray from front to back before each start (you can also spray from back to front ).
