I have a 280"spitzer dragster that is a legal topdragster car and fits protopoutlaw rules. (supercharged with a converter)
I should have posted that before, sorry if I had a 10.5 street car I think I could find racing anywhere!

    Robert,
Unfortunately one or our favorite playgrounds Spokane Raceway is closed for the year but may reopen next year. Your car would have fit into pro alcohol dragster the equivalent to TAD and they paid well just to qualify top eight. Hopefully the right person will buy the track at auction April 10 and reopen it. In the meantime you are pretty much limited to top dragster at divisionals or whatever. Look on the website www.realdragracers.com and contact Derick Snelson who is promoting a heads up supercharged type race in Yakima July 4-5. Probably won't pay much but should be fun (and very hot).

washington is in div6 as you know. we started the top-comp class. its since broken-up into dragsters in one group and door cars in another. really great class. the track in spokane hopefully will become a real track with an nhra program. hopefully running REAL top alcohol cars, not the mismatch of the cars they have run in the past. doorcars are not f/c. or gas carbed 7sec digs as tads. anyway welcome to the northwest.

Mark is right the alcohol carbed dragsters should not have been allowed or the self starting door car. The blown altereds always put on a good show and hold their ground against the f/c so of course I don't see a problem with that since I own one. I think what you are looking for Robert just doesn't exist in the NW. Top dragster allows electronics and has dial ins. Doesn't compare to heads up racing at SRP where there are also spectators in the stands.

    racing in washington

you could put some paddle tires on it and you could go sand drag racing in longview and down in Riddle and Albany Oregon then put the slicks back on and race at the divisional races. there isn't too many rules in the sand so you can try anything to 300 ft because that is how long the track is

Most of all that was part of the appeal of the race to racers like us. We do run a "real" top alcohol funny car and also a "real" top alcohol dragster. However, a good chunk of the cars running in the PAD and PAFC classes there used to be "real" class cars as well, only they never changed or updated, just like the track. We love going there because it is kind of a throw back to years gone by. It really doesn't matter there how much power you bring, how many wizbang computer graphs you look at or anything - it all comes down to the driver and the tuner. When racing there it kinda feels like we're all in the movie "Fast Company," with a few things missing of course...

Deer park & Spokane race way park the early days

Good ole days, I've been drag racing since 1965. Deer Park & SRP in 1974 opening. The northwest legends such as Frank Rupert, Dave Wren, Ivan Potter , Earl Jay, Larry Taylor, Twig Ziegler, Joe Blaylock, Dean Reinbolt, Gus Foster, Jim Durham, Whitey Vanderbilt long before the leaders of today, Remember the OLD Trapper from Canada, how about Kenny Sitco!!! just to name a few and many more. I still race at SRP as of last year. Hopefully some one will keep the track as it is. Srp gives us a place to race, for me it's (PAD) the weekend racer, the type of racing that built drag racing as it is today. The A fuel cars have dominated t.a.d, class (SINCE 2002) in nhra and the blower cars are second @ best. We need a race track like Spokane Raceway Park. Well thats my 2 cents worth . You might think T. S. but remember this, Corporate cars, most of the time, keep you out of the show. have a great day at the track, if there is a track! John
