Cryogenic Treatment

    Curious if people have tried cryo treating engine & driveline parts, and if so what sort of improvements if any? I'm especially interested in treating blocks, cranks, rods, cams, heads, sleeves, pistons, gears, etc. Or is it more of a feel good process?......

    I had my crankshaft in the van for most of the day; it was minus 45 outside, that should cryo treat it, shouldn't it? lol.

    Cryogenics work and so does Metallax (vibratory). It's all done to densify ( is that a word?) the crystal and molecular structures in the steel. Nascar's been doing it a long time. None of them run without it. Paul Gentillozi used it on their Trans-Am Jags and Mustangs (frames) and more than doubled the life and reduced the stress cracking/rewelding between races. Valve springs benefit-----but when you shot peen, vibrate and cryo they last twice as long but cost 12 times as much. Cost vs. benefit is the thing. If you're running the 24 Rolex, you need it. If you're drag racing--------change the stuff between rounds or races.

    Ken, I laughed real hard when I read your post! I can picture the real estate sale pitch in ND. "Move to Canada and get cryo treatment for free, once per year".

    You guys have had some wicked temps this year. Hasn't been "too" bad here in Ontario.
