We ran fowler rods for year and had no problems. However I .dont like the way he lines the cap to the rod.Where most rods use a serrated pattern on cap and rod,Fowler uses a bushing around rod bolt to align two halves. It makes the cap hard to get off for quick maint.,also if you do check bearings alot the bushing tends wallow out rod end.We changed rods about every 20 runs and never broke one.Personally I like brooks rods best.We were also running a roots, I dont have experience with screw blower.

I ran the Fowler rods with a 10-71 HH SSI on a sbc and I loved them. I never had a problem and that motor saw 13,500 rpm the fist time I took it out. I like the doweled cap ,the alignment is always correct and no feeler gauges required when you change the bearings! Like lugnut said the caps don't just fall apart when you pull the bolts out but its not that bad to get them apart after you learn how. You couldn't ask for any better service than Fowler as well.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.......

What's the technique/practice for getting the cap off once you remove the bolts? Wiggle by hand?

Wondering about what happens if the big end spreads and a hone is called for. Does the dowel then not line-up with the register holes in the rod & cap if the rod widens in the middle?

I would loosen bolts about half way. Once bolts were loose I would use my battery powered impact, put your socket back on bolt and give the bottom of impact a pop with your hand. Most times the cap would seperate, although sometimes you will have to work each bolt until dowels are out of rod end.
