I know its for the top ten,,,, not all of us are so lucky to be in the top ten every year. $140.00 seems like alot for divisonals.

This entry fee thing really bugs me. Probably more than it should only being $140, or wait, you can't run an alcohol car with a driver and one crew. Make that at least $240. Still, a small sum compared to the other expenses. I think everyone basically agrees that its about 5K to get the equipment and car prepared, get to the track, buy fuel, eat, etc. So what's 5,000 compared to 5,240? It must me the principle part of me that has a problem with it!
Who, exactly does the new policy benefit? The track? They'll be lucky to collect a generous $2000 most of which will be gold, silver, and bronze card extra passes for their crew members who had to take off from work just to be there on Thursday eve. Add to that all the confusion / frustration that it will create at the gate and the destruction of racer goodwill and the idea gets dumber and dumber. The NHRA's 20% of the increased gate would come to about $400. Big deal. What's next? Premium fees for asphalt parking near the starting line? Does anyone think that this creates incentive for anyone? Call me crazy, but I'm going to find it difficult, if not impossible to yank any money out of my wallet and give it to them for entrance to an event that I'd rather not run anyway. (We're required to run a certain number of divisionals for admittance to National events). It feels like a tax to me. What are some of the other racer's thoughts?

Tim- any track promoter worth his salt would give away 5000 free entry's to spectators, raise the price of beer 50 cents and likely make an extra 10 thou. What they are doing sucks- Be different if you were not forced to attend 3 divisionals- Pro Mods don't have to go to divisionals to gain entry to Nat events, right?
