Not sure if this is right, but I heard that in addition to the seat and roll cage padding changes for 2008, the chassis was changed in the cockpit area as well? Specifically, the X brace that attaches to the lower rails has to be updated, as well as a Y structure has to be added to the upper rails in the cockpit? If this is true, please point me to the memo on this rule change. Are there any other changes I should know about?

Doesn't sound like anyone has heard about these changes, maybe it is just for fuel cars. I'll check with NHRA and let you know what I find out.

I guess I should have checked more thoroughly about this before alarming everyone. From the people I talked to tonight, sounds like this is to do with the new TF and FC specs; there are no new specs for TAD as of yet.

    Sorry guys.

If a new rule is implemented in T/F, you can bet it will be required in TAD/TAFC in a year or two.

Kenny; TAD is now 2.1 spec, no longer to be confused with 2.3 XXX, or whatever. I have not seen one (I was "invalidated" from the committee), but the deal referenced above was another "fix" for poor design after Foley's car fell apart.
And Rob S. if you buy one of those "cheap", "abnormalized/hardened" cars, would you be so kind as to give my X-wife a shot at driving?

That's what I want to avoid. I already know my car certifies to 2.3M but I was curious what the other two were.

I just got off the phone with Jake at NHRA Glendora: the spec 2.1J remains the same for Top Alcohol Dragster. SFI spec. 2.3N is for Top Fuel Dragster, which is requiring a larger tubing in the foot box impact crosses, an X or doubleK under the driver of larger material and a "V" to be installed above the drivers legs to make a K member of the steering cross tube. Alcohol dragster will remain the same,(for now). So I guess we can relax until it changes next week.
