Hello everyone! My name is Shane Wheeler, grandson of Shad Wheeler. I was doing a search trying to get information on my grandfathers racing days and found that there was a thread back in 04 on his passing. I am trying to get old photos and any information that i am able to get together about his racing days. If there is any of you guys that could help me out that would be great. Thanks!
    V/R,
    Shane Wheeler

    Hi Shane,
My Dad race with your grandfather in the late 80's. Back in the late 80's , IHRA had baseball type cards of all the drivers. I have a set of these cards at my shop. I will gladly look through them tomorrow and see if your grandfather's car was in them. If it is, I'll send it to you. I will post a message tomorrow to let you know if I found one. Then, you can post a message with an address I can send it to.

    Shane,
Looked through all my cards and didn't have any luck finding one of your grandfather's cards. The cards I have are from '89 and '90. I'm not sure if they had any from '88 but, that might be about the right time frame. I'll keep looking for you. Good luck.

I purchased a Mustang body from Shad in 1988. It was painted black and was named "Dark Horse"

I have a few photos, if that helps

    Good Morning Shane:
I was lucky enough to know your grandfather pretty well and crewed on his team for a little while. I have a lot of photos and information that I could copy and send you if you would like? Not sure if you are aware, but Shad at one time was the quickest Chevy powered funny car on any fuel at 6.21.

    Shad

Tim, did you crew with a guy named Steve? At that time was from Mt. Vernon area. I think he helped Shad late '80's early 90's. He helped me for a couple years around '97-'99. He had quite a few stories to tell from some of the old UDRA races. Jeff

    Jeff:
I sure did. Steve Prince was Shad's crew chief for several years. He also helped Ken Lowe with his alcohol dragster, and I think before that he worked with the "Roach Coach" Top Fuel dragster. He was a wild man, but fun to hang out with. He had a lot of stories, but knew his stuff to. Last I knew, Steve lived down around National Trails Raceway. We were there 2 years ago running my son's junior dragster and he came up and hung out with us for a while.
What car did Steve help you with?
