finally here............ now what?

let me preface this by saying that i know i should have built a car for a class......... but ive always wanted a blown alky altered. i just think they are great, and ive had alot of fun driving her........ we've just been taking her out on t&t nights and making passes having fun with it. but now we wanna do some racing......... theres the problem. i really dont fit in anywhere. we arent setting the world on fire or anything, but we have her deep in the sixes, and on my budget thats as fast as we are gonna get her. but thats a little much for the brackets around here. ok, maybe im bein a snob, but i cant justify running her 6,7,8 rounds for a couple hundred bucks against guys who's cars could pretty much run all day on a circle track. all they gotta do is gas up here and there and charge a battery. there are a few Q16's, but few and far between. we'd love to go heads up racing weather we got our doors blown off or not. but there is no heads up for open bodies here either< oh sorry, cleveland OH> we have a modern F/C chassis, so the nostalgia guys dont like us....... im a man without a country or maybe im way off, maybe there is a place for me. any suggestions? if not, screw it. ill still take her out on T&T nights and go as fast as my wallet will allow. And keep havin fun with her. im just dumb like that

 

Hey anything the runs 6's has to be cool. We are partial to Blown Altereds of course
We run Open Outlaw Down here in Florida and occasionally Georgia. The big races are April, November and December.
You could probably run NHRA Top Dragster depending on your equipment but that's still bracket racing.
Pro Top Outlaws would give you a place to run but they don't run in Cleveland. You'll proably have to travel at least some if you want to run Heads up with cars of your class. www.protopoutlaws.com

Try talking to your local track owner about exhibition passes. At the very least, maybe you can get enough out of them to pay for fuel and free entry.

Start checking the other local (within 100 miles) tracks and see if there are any exhibition groups that come through.

The "Dixie Doorslammers" come through the Southern Illinois and Memphis area regularly.

You'll find a spot to play. We're kind of in the same boat (minus the funny car).

Should have the schedule up soon, check the website periodically. Are you and Anthony going to come to a few of our races? Do you run a 14 or an 8 on your car, if it's a 14 do you have an 8?

i will be coming to the pro top outlaws in 08 looking forward to having some fun with the dragsters and altereds in the fast 8 class

 

The Nostalgia Pro Comp Association is a great bunch of guys (and gals)to run with, as is the Protop bunch, you just need to to have your A game on to run with them (Protop). NPCA's index deal gives you some options as to how hard you want to run your stuff and the no-electrics rules put the fun back into driving. Norwalk is on the schedule for you Ohio guys and Indy is always worth the drive. There are other dates that are in the works in Northern IN, not sure of others. Give them a look at:

thanks for all the help guys. both groups sound like exactly what im looking for. also glad to see that im not the only guy in this situation........ now its just a matter of seeing how bad uncle sam is gonna nail me at tax time, to figure out how early im gonna be able to get her out. i cant tell you how much i like the idea of no more brackets!!! i dont care if i get my doors blown off. i wont have to sit at the tree while a guy runs to half track before i can run. sounds alot more like racing to me!!! thanks again fellas. this is the most excited ive been for a season to come up in a long time.

Seems to me that brackets is what he is trying to get away from......can't blame him, either.
