you will have to cut the rods for clearance on one side by the top of the rod bolt
everyone did this for years before the raised cam blocks

I might have one, you are looking for a standard cam (not raised) and standard journal diameter? I'll look in the shop tonight.

Peter, I have a regular journal camshaft that looks to have a fairly small base circle. I don't have a cam card, but the numbers on the back are:

    Crower Cam
    669376
    E4585
    95C2A

I also have new Erson cam, but I don't have it right at hand right now. I can get it for you next week.

i checked the old rods from this motor and found that they have a differant profile from brooks in the area where the lobe would hit and it has .050 clearance it was run like this with no apparant drama......is .050 enough.....just want to be sure?

    Rod to cam clearence

Kirk Kuhns and I do the rods in my BAE and keep them at about .046.I shift at 8500 and haven't had a problem. The idea is to remove as little material from the rods as possible, yet get enough room to clear.Hope this helps.

you have several ways to go on this problem....our spare motor is a twin to yours..choice 1...you can send the rods back to brooks and they can clearance them for you or you can also do it your self..I have done it both ways..If you have a bridgeport mill do it your self that what ive done..but rember next time you order rods tell them to do it and they will..good luck..wish you lived close I would do it for you..Dave Lowe

With my experiance you also have to look at rod bolt clearance to the side of the block due to core shift when the block was made. May need to slightly clearance the sides of the block also. I needed to with my kb stage 3 block. Rods and block clearance. Rods also just touched the top part of the cylinders on one side.
