8164 Wiring Harness on MSD 8973?

    I see in the 8973 wiring diagram a 8164 harness. Is this needed to wire up the 8973 correctly? I searched on the 8164 on the MSD web page and it came up with no such product item.

    Anyone out there using the 8164 harness?

    Doug have you bought the 8973 yet? It comes with a wiring harness and my guess is that is the part number for the included harness. I have never had to buy an additional harness other that a shielded crank trigger cable if I was moving the box away from the motor. If you are going to use a crank trigger then make sure those wires are run separatly and well away from all other wires or you may get false triggering of the box.

    p/n 8164 is a 5 foot extension harness that goes between the crank trigger wire and the 8973 box wire.

    MSD site is really poor for items like this.

    Hold your breath for a price on this harness.

    Ebay has the crimp tools and the ends available but they are also very expensive. You have the tool when you are done and we could all borrow it from time to time.

    I am impressed. I called in September for a harness for my shifter control and was quoted $75.00 and 1 month delivery.

    The MSD Digital 7 shielded crank trigger cable is about the same price.
