Does anyone have any advice for using a 44 amp mag on a new century block with their gear drive and 18deg big chief heads. Who makes the best mag drive? Also what is the diff. between rear mount with offset drive and front mount. Motor is in a dragster. thanks Jody Stroud

    Magdrive

    Hi !
We run about the same combination, and built our own motor last winter. Found Jeff Fowler www.fowlerengines.com to be a very good source for blown chevy solutions. His Pioneer magdrive fit our RCD geardrive perfect. The advantage of driving the mag up front is that you do not get the camshaft flexing into your ignitiontiming as a variable parameter. Of course an RCD / electrimotion cranktrigger will make it all even one step more precise. Have pictures if you want to have some e-mailed. Good luck. Oystein Solberg, Norway, Europe

Thanks alot, thats what I needed. How does the pioneer work with new centurys geardrive though and did you have any issues with cleareance with heads? Pictures would be most helpful, send them to stroudandson@shtc.net Thanks, Jody Stroud

why dont you call lowel at new century and get the front drive for the mag he has there? it goes on his front timing cover. the center comes out and that one bolts back in.

I used the pioneer mag drive on a New Century block with 18* Big Duke heads. With a MSD 44 you have to notch the valve cover rail and the mag will fit. You can buy the drive undrilled and clock the mag exactly where you have the most clearance.
