question on cracked main can it be repaired

    hi guys, wanted to know if 1 of the mains have a hair line crack in it at the top of the main going right down the main to the bearing seat and in line with the oil feed hole. can it be repaired and if it can would it be suitible for blower use. and who is the best for that kind of repair thanx

    bae is great for block repairs. george santos, s&s auto does a fine job as well. i've heard good things from people who have had bill reichert fix a block as well. i was told that reichert has a line bore tool that only cuts the cap that needs to be replaced, opposed to cutting into the block on all of them.

    it seems the lifespan on caps in a screw/psi motor is about 60-80 runs.

    What ever happened to just replacing the cap with a new one and alighboring? Welding on it will change the metal properties. To much at risk to take the chance of welding.

    Will that 60 to 80 runs can be shortened to one if detonation occurs.

    Repairing Block / main cap replacing ? ? ?

    What good would it be to replace the Main cap if the Blocks main Web is cracked all the way down to the oil hole ? ? ? ?? I think that Rick Santos at S & S Automotive in San Leandro, Ca needs to see this guys block ! ! !! !
