I run 285 inch. Dan Page dragster with BAE 456 c.i. , every run i use the 2 chutes , the engine run at idle for few seconds in deceleration and then increase the rpm and stop the same way as i pull the shut-off valve . I think due to the deceleration force, all the fuel in the tube from tank to pump ( 12 feet ) goes back to the tank.
do somebody use any kind of one way valve or check valve to prevent this situation.
    Thanks
    Claude

It would be foolish to put anything in the main fuel line, if it's doing it to your car, it's doing it to everybody's, don't worry about it.

This is really a normal situation for a lot of cars, especially with front tanks. Our TAFC does it, as well as our TAD. If the car shuts itself off, thats just one less thing for me to worry about lol...

I worry when the car doesn't shut itself off after a run. That means something is happening that isnt normal. Dave Germain

Just a ponderer.......if some kind of one way door or flap was installed at the fuel tank vent that allowed one way air movement. When the car is decelerating it would close as soon as fuel tried to reverse itself in the line due to a positive pressure development.

Never done it, but it's a thought if your wanting to correct the situation.

    Blessings........Ron Clevenger.

If you think about it, as long as the pump is turning it will flow fuel because that's what a pump does, no matter witch way the car is going (under power or decelerating) so if the fuel goes back to the tank after the motor shuts off it won't hurt the pump because the pump is not turning if thats what your worried about.;) Oh, KISS

tank baffles, simple, stop the fuel moving forwards under decelleration so the pump doesn't suck air and lean the motor out

If you want my honest opinion. If it isn't hurting parts then leave it alone!

When the altered gets the hit of the parachutes the engine does stumble slightly and revs a little. I find also when the negative g's relax a little fuel finds itself back into the pump and the engine surges, but that's only if i don't dis-engage the clutch. The motor will normally lean itself out, just remember to hit the ignition switch, you don't want your crew man in the car with the clutch out and the engine stumble back into life, i've seen that happen a few times!

If your that worried, then as soon as you feel the chutes bite, lean out the motor, hit the killswitch and sit back relax and listen to the driveshaft spinning.

    ... Life is good! :D
