Does anyone remember when the first Whipplecharger with the new intergrated injector made it,s first appearance? INdy or Columbus national events?

 

I am sure that the Austin's were the first to use it weren't they. I certainly don't know which event is was though.

I thought it was Columbus. I was there with Jay Meyer and remember looking at it in the staging lanes.Seems like we were pitted next to Cheesman and you Mike.Mrs Kosky made us a wonderfull diner Friday night and Mikey supplied the Rolling Rock.

Say what you want to say about the integrity of the sport. I know the class is called Top Alcohol,but nitro is cool shit! The fans love it, NHRA loves it, and it's not going anywhere. The quicker you realize it the quicker you'll be competing for the championship.

I know this seems arrogant but I believe this is the future. I certainly don't mean any disrespect to anyone, especially guys like Marty and David, etc... They deserve the utmost respect. I just think that A-fuel is the best way to go with the current rules, and I don't see things changing anytime soon.

Of course that's just my opinion I could be wrong.

Will, after reading your post I believe your right. I do think having both combo's in the class makes for great racing, and I think the fans enjoy it, also. If you have all nitro cars or all blown cars it would be less interesting. It's always cool to see blown vs. A-fuel in the final round. I think the announcers do a good job of pointing out the differences to the fans and it creates a race within the race, which is good for the class.

Maybe with the new rules we'll see more parity and it will make for even better racing. If there is still a big performance advantage then maybe NHRA should consider allowing gains for blown cars. After thinking about it, I don't believe it would be good for the class to drive people away from one combination or the other. Let them run whatever they prefer, just keep it competitive for both sides.

 

Funny ch3no2, but your first post DID sound more like you thought all of us BAD people should just hang it up and get the blinders off because the only way to go is A/Fuel.
If that is not what you really meant then I am glad you made the second post.
