Okay guys, A different question for you all. I run a 540 Rodeck with a 1471 on Alky in a sand dragster. I have always used Kendall 50 weight oil and it's been good to me. I have an opportunity for a sponsorship from Bardahl on oil. Every little bit helps so I ask if any of you are using Bardahl 30-60 synthetic oil? Their web site shows it in a motor cycle catagory? The guy that hooked me up with 6 gallons of it runs a 410 sprint car and swears bye it. I won't be draining the oil out of the pan until I see some feed back from you all. Thanks in advance.

I have never even heard of it, however we used to run Castrol Motorcycle oil in a 70wt and would not have switched to Kendall 70wt had they not discontinued the product.

    synthetic oil and alky

the thing you have to be careful of with synthetic oil in a blown alky applicaiton is how it reacts to the alcohol that will be pushed into it. while a sprint car may have contamination from alky, i don't think it will be anywhere near what a blown motor will give it, not to mention the oil has to really hold up due to hp.

i've heard of a lot of oils being used...never heard of that one in a blown alky situation.

the only safe way to check it would be to make a 330 to half pass and check the bearings and your oil filter. without testing it, you're rolling the dice whether it's going to work or not. then you have to look at how much you spend on oil vs how much is a couple test passes going to cost, or even an engine.

let us know how it works if you do try it.

Thanks for the input from all of you. I tried the Bardahl this weekend. It actually orked well. After pulling a few bearings I was satisfied. The alky disloution seemed fair too. The 30-6 blend was originally for aircraft engines accoeding to the tech people at Bardahl.
For my application I think it'll be fine. Thanks again for the input..
