Needed Help For Motor Question

HI GUYS NEED TO FIND OUT IF I NEED NEW PISTONS. GOT A MOTOR JP1 WITH OLDER VENNY HEADS. MOTOR COMPLETE. FOUND THE PISTONS TO BE FLAT TOPS LOOK LIKE A FUEL ONES. STROKE IS 4.5 LENGHT RODS ARE 7.03 PIN IS 1.09 PISTON HIEGHT IS 1.0034 OR 1.555 HALF THE PIN INCLUDED. BUT WANTED TO KNOW IF THIS IS AN ALKY SET UP OR A FUEL SET UP. WANT TO RUN ALKY CAME WITH 14-71, STD BORE I THINK 4.187 FORGOT TO MENTION THE HEAD GASKET LOOKS LIKE 1/8 THICK COPPER 1. PISTON SEEMS TO GO ABOVE THE DECK HEIGHT QUITE A BIT. BIG CHAMBERS ON THE OLDER VENNY HEADS. HAVE TRYIED OLDER BAE HEADS PISTONS DONT GO INTO THE CHAMBER LIKE THEY DO FOR THE VENNY HEADS. THE PISTONS LOOK ALMOST NEW WITH COATING ON IT. ALSO ANOTHER QUESTION HOW DO YOU TELL IF THE ALUMINUM RODS CAME WITH THIS COMBO ARE NEW THEY SURE LOOK LIKE IT BROOKS. SHOULD I SELL EM AND BUT NEW JUST FOR SAFETY OR CAN SOME 1 TELL BY LOOKING OR MEASURING THEM. check the skirts if they are not collapsed and you are only going to run 7.5's I would not be afraid to use them.

but would you know what compression would i be running, if its low i heard i will have to spin the blower more. or should i run it on gasoline. or could i tell what it was running by looking at the injector sizes. he had them in the manifold and bird catcher also in the blower it self.

 

You made need to be careful with the piston deck height. I am not sure what the clearance specs are for today's alky engines. I think gas is more tempormental than alcohol RE tuning. I have run as low as 9-1 compression on alcohol (Rodeck "learn to drive a BB/FC engine") w/ a wore-out 6-71 that went 7.60s, so you should easily get mid sevens out of that beast.

thats just it i am not sure of the compression. i am trying to find out. have 14-71 on it. injectors sizes on hat are 40s manifold range to 65s does that sound like alky or nitro. some ports in manifold have 2 injectors mostly the middle ones.

thanx thats what i am thinking, but the piston is very close to the valves and piston seeme to stick mout past the deck and into the chamber.
