    ric,
there's a few ways to get consistant launch rpm's. the msd 2 step is a neat deal but not advisable on a screw bower car. all the nhra promod cars with roots are now using them but ihra promod does not allow them (last i knew).

our way of doing consitant launch rpm's is with a an air cylinder on the throttle. per all sanctioned bodies the throttlle must be controlled mechaically with a cable or linkage. therefore the air cylinder system assembly must move with the the cable. the normal position for the cylinder is fully open (out). when the button for the delay box is pushed the cylinder closes (in) but when the throttle pedal is pushed to the floor the motor is at launch rpm. when the delay box "pops" it throws the cylinder (out) via an electric/air solenoid switch and throws the throttle wide open. once you get the right launch rpm set, check your injector butterflies with a feeler guage to get a baseline and to know where to set it again if ever gets disambled or something.
another really neat way for consistant launch rpm's is with a trick throttle pedal assambly. two cables are needed to do it. the whole pedal assembly slides back and forth with one cable setting the launch rpm and the other cable is basically like a traditional cable which the driver can use like a normal throttle. the driver stages the car then pushes the whole assembly forward with his/her heel to set the launch rpm's then mashes the pedal with the ball of his/her foot when the green light pops.
