might want to talk to an official chassis builder... but i put mine at 15 degrees and love the way the car handles. 125 inch fuel legal chassis blown nitro 200+mph. might get other opinions but works well for me... and if it matters its a rack/pinion car. sean

    Thanks Bob.
This is my first FC. (Previously had a FED which had 20 degrees).
What causes the front wheel "shimmy" that I've seen on some FC's when they are breaking after the burnout?

    Appreciate your advise
    Dave

In my opinion: $3.00 rod ends or worn out ones!

Bob, isn't the kingpin inclination pretty well set by front axle assembly? I was under the impression to adjust the kingpin angle you have to bend the axle which also affects the camber. Am I wrong or close? Also, I think the 20° might be for the caster setting, not the kingpin.

And Bob, what would you recommend the caster angle for 125" wb, solid rear-end, torsion-bar front for a 1800 lbs altered?

    Thanks,

Paul, your correct. I'm referring to the castor angle of the King Pin. Not the camber. Camber is set by the design of the spindle and I have been under the impression that the wheels should be vertical, therefore the camber of the king pin, will be whatever the spindle has designed into it.

Bob, was your previous recomendation for Castor or Camber?

    Thanks
    Dave

    Bob is right
tilt the king pin rearward 9°
so it doesnt break your wrists when you try to back up 30 mph

Dave (Paul); I speak to people in other countries (including Texas) on a daily basis, I knew exactly what he meant.
But you know I love to tell stories when I have time, so...
We all call the spindles we use today "Anglia", so we assume they are dimensionally the same.... wrong!
All aftermarket race spindles are 8* axle to kingpin, but because I have a second life here lately doing old car recreations, I was just reminded by almost screwing up a front axle with stock Anglia spindles, that they are 10*!!!

Speaking of old car recreations...the FC I'm building is an original 1970 (built in '71) Cuda. Found the body rotting under a tree in some farmers yard. Tin is in good condition and it had a Youngblood paint scheme buried under 4 other layers.
Building a new 120" chassis for it. SPE spindles, steering etc. Have an old iron 392 nitro motor for mumbo

Cheers and thanks for the advise
    Dave

I agree with Bob. I do quite a few new a-arms on funny cars that won't back up without trying to rip the front wheels off. 7 to 9 degrees is what I use too, I have seen funny cars with 15 degrees or more, and it just doesn't work.
