good luck, many have asked that question and many answers. I run total of 19 and still run out in the 1/8. 16 in motor, 1 in filter and 3 in accusump. oil pressure starts out 180 to 190 then computer shows it falling off at 3 seconds in run and dropping to 25 to 30 in the lights. so far no bearing damage. have no idea what i would do in the 1/4, 40 qts maybe, 20 in motor and 20 in the trailer pulled behind car LOL.:D

I think maybe you need oil restrictors, I have ran 16 in the quarter previously and never lost pressure.

Just to add to the discussion, we only run total of 12 qts. Brad w/ oil restrictors, Frank Weiss oil pump, Peterson tank, heated 50w Valvoline, 1/4 mile. Leave line w/ 140psi, finish line 125psi. Absolutely no bearing problems. :)

yes!!!! i just did this !!! i had a upper end oiling problem so i drilled them out.... then i fixed the problem.... so after about a minute of running with 13 quarts in my wet sump funny car pan pressure would drop...checked everything..... put new restrictors in and problem fixed.... Pro Pan

I have a 9500 rpm, psi blown 388 in SBC running in the mid 6's with a Doug Lee Pro Pan running 7.5 qts with absolutly no oil pressure problems. We are currently building a similar design pan for a TAD Fontana expecting to run 12 to 13 qt's.I can put you in contact with Doug if interested. Jerry McGonigle 620-663-4949

I called TFX and got the numbers on the restrictor size last year and thats the way it is set up, dont have my notes with me ,but I think like a #45 in the left bank and none in the right or the opposite. I will get my notes tonight and repost. I heard the hemis were bad on galling pushrods and that was my worry, but after 15 to 20 runs the valve train looks perfect. Maybe I now need to slowly increase the restrictors to keep more in the pan.

The main thing with Hemi push rods is proper lubrication prior to starting the engine, hell I even oil them before turning it over to set the clutch when the engine has not been ran. I use STP in an oil squirt can with a flexible hose and oil them really well. Another thing is to make sure you are setting the valves correctly, it is easy to be .05 off just because the cam is not in the right place even when you think it is. You also have to make sure and replace the adjuster if you gall a push rod because if that thing has one little mark on it then it will eat pushrods.

OK finally got my notes and TFX said to put a .045 restricter in the even cylinder bank and none in the odd bank, just put the set screw in the odd bank to cap the oil gallery.
Maybe I need to put a restrictor in the odd bank to slow the oil down to the top of the motor and keep a eye out for blueing of the push rods.
I raced the car last nite with a fresh pump from system one and new bearings, staging the car before the hit had 73# ideling @2000rpm
    then 185# @ the hit
    at one sec 199#@6362rpm
    2sec 188#@7137 rpm
    shifted at 7600rpm
    3sec163#@6502rpm
and here it starts dropping bad @3.2sec 79#@6450rpm
    3.84 sec49#@6642rpm
    4.0 sec43#@6672rpm
    went thru lites 4.50@37#6969rpm
I can only assume out of oil with 15 qt in motor, 1 in filter, and 3 in accusump on that pass, I had 1xtra qt last week and it spit it out of the breathers all over the windshield when I hit the chutes. Any tips are greatly appreciated. howard brown

Everybody I know that runs a funny with those high rpms have changed to dry sump to make it live. bearing problems, loss of oil, etc. I run my car at 8500 and have no problems with a wet sump system. only 10qts.

H Brown it sounds like the oil is not returning to the pan fast enough, the extra quart that you ran may have finished up traped at the top of the motor in the valve covers this MAY be why you are seeing oil out the breathers.. We ended up running 21 quarts total wet sump, every time we added a quart it got further down track B4 pressure dropped off. (6.0 sec funny car 1/4 mile ) With my TFX we eventually went to a dry sump to fix it. Just a thought..

Ask someone else about the restrictors other than TFX, it still sounds like it is pumping too fast to the top. 15 qts should get it throught the 1/8th mile no matter how slow it drains down.
