Looking for ideas on what to run for lubricant in my push rod cups.
See alot of guys putting special lube in the intake push rod cups when running the valves on their late models.

we just put some Lucas Oil Stabiliser on them, never had a problem. That stuff is thick as it comes and won't be shifting

We use a black moly lube, brush-in-can made by Jet Lube. Can't recall the part number off hand, but it works great!

    moly/torco/lucas

I've always used black moly/graphite lube when installing the pushrods, filling the cup up with the lube. In between rounds I've always used Torco Assembly lube liberally around the adjuster balls. I always take my finger and rub the lube on the back side of the intake adjuster, because it's hard for the lube to 'flow' back there naturally.

Harker just takes a bottle of lucas and liberally covers everything in the valve train...adjusters, springs, stands....so I know that works as well.

    hope that helps

According to Terry Manton he HIGHLY recommends that you do NOT use "peanut butter" because it does not disolve in the oil so it ends up blocking any oil flow during a run to that area of the pushrod where it was used.

it was just my experiance using the (peanut butter)
Blown alcohol, A/fuel, Top fuel & Fuel funny car, I have used it on all
works just fine with out plugging anything up.
and if it is a problem,..well,i guess you all better stop using it on
the head studs too, if its clogging up the oil passages to that area.
must be some frozen peanut butter to clog up a oil galley...j/k
    I have had 0 problems,
..no burnt pushrods or gauled adjusters, no plugged oil galleys
..etc..etc.... either way what ever you use is
going to get squezed out anyways,..purple moly will still be clinging
around the cup even after 4 runs........i guess i am lucky

..or maybe just Slick...a cha cha cha cha

    Mso-68

We offer a high pressure lubricant called MSO-68. This material is designed to work as a, short term, break-in oil and is thin enough to be washed away by oil. This eliminates the generation of heat from friction and allows the oil system to remove the heat that is generated. Works very well on valve springs, pushrod cups and adjusters, roller tips, and head stud nuts.

    Manton MSO-68

    Noel,
I have some of your MSO-68 on it right now. We had a small sample that we got at the PRI show.

    Smells alot like gear lube.

We are going to put it to the test next week.

Thanks to everyone that wrote in on this thread.
    Great feedback.

    Thanks to ITA.
